I am really excited about todays feature, not only because it is a wedding captured by the lovely and talented Chris Spira but also because this wedding inspires me in so many ways. From the love between a mother and daughter so clearly visible in these images, to the beautiful customs and traditions that have been woven into the day. Everything about this wedding stirs up a wonderful sense of wanderlust.
Biru (the bride) got ready in her parents home which is located in an old quarter in downtown Shanghai. This area of Shanghai is well known for its beautiful houses built in the Shikumen style combining both Western and Chinese elements. On her wedding day Biru's mum braided her hair in the same way that she used to when Biru was a little girl. I love the beautiful images of the red firecracker heart which was lit as part of the celebration when Yisu (groom) came to pick Biru up from her parents home.
You can see more of this beautiful day, and admire many more amazing images from all over the world on Chris' lovely blog.
